We were anticipating Sony Xperia Tablet Z ever since the Japanese sleeping giant flashed the Xperia Z smartphone at CES 2013. Just as we expected, we may be able to lay our hands on this 10.1″ beauty at MWC end of this month.
Sony is calling Xperia Tablet Z ‘the thinnest tablet computer of its kind’. The fact is that it’s a microscopic 0.01 inch thinner than an iPad Mini. That said, the Xperia Tablet Z does pack some impressive specs.
Apart from being the slimmest tablet around, Xperia Z is also the lightest among all 10″ slates. Sony says it is water and dust resistant, which makes us think it has plastic covers protecting its ports just like we saw in Xperia Z smartphone.
Sony Xperia Z 10.1 inch Tablet runs the latest edition Android Jelly Bean on a 1920×1200 resolution, 224 ppi, 10.1 inch LED backlit LED screen. The super-thin tablet sports a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage and a microSD card slot all crammed up in a 6.9 mm thick frame.
An 8.1 megapixel rear camera promises high quality pictures, considering Sony’s experience in digital imaging technology. The Xperia Z tablet is preloaded with patent Sony technology and apps. We can expect it to integrate well into the Sony Play Station gaming experience.
